Where is the beach experience & photoshoot?
You will park at the Driessen Beach Park which is mid island, 64 Bradley Beach Road, Hilton Head Island, SC 29928. Park in the parking lot and walk down the board walk. We will meet you at the end of the blue mat. Please keep in mind the walk from the parking lot to the beach is about 5 minutes.
Where is the Indoor Beach Studio Experience & Photoshoot?
Mermaid of Hilton Head Indoor Beach Studio is located at our Retail Store and Learning Grotto at Tanger 2 Outlets. The address is 1414 Fording Island Rd, Ste E180, Bluffton, SC 29910
What do I need to bring?
We provide the tails, as well as the accessories. (starfish for your hair, sea shell props, paint brush, fishing net, etc.) You need to wear your favorite swimsuit.
For the beach experiences the bathrooms are a 5 minute walk from the beach so please wear your suit to the session. You should also bring a towel and any other accessories you would like to be incorporated into your photo session! Also bring a quarter or 2 for public beach access parking.
What is your cancelation policy?
You can cancel your session within 1 week of the session time for a full refund. If you cancel after the 1 week deadline there is no refund. If you need to reschedule your session we will make every attempt to accommodate your schedule.
If your session is canceled due to weather, a call that will be made by the photographer, the session will be fully refunded. If weather is an issue we will first attempt to reschedule your session to a new time.
We do offer Photoshoot Insurance at an additional cost. Photoshoot Insurance allows you to cancel your Photoshoot with at least 24-hours notice and we will reimburse you for your full shoot price (minus the tour insurance cost).
Who can be a mermaid?
Anyone, babies as young as 3 weeks old have become mermaids with us, children, mermen, and even Merternity mermaids are welcome! So far, our oldest mermaid has been 70 years old so you're never too old or too young!
How much are the digital images with rights?
1 image - $19.95 plus tax
6 images - $69.95 plus tax
12 images - $99.95 plus tax
20 images - $129.95 plus tax
We also offer a wide variety of print products you can purchase from your private online gallery.
How should I do my hair and makeup?
For hair, we recommend beach waves. Check out our pinterest page for some ideas how to obtain that perfect mermaid look. We like to keep our mermaids natural looking, but as far as makeup goes, we leave that up to you! You know best what makes you look like a stunning mermaid! We do not have anyone to help with hair and make up so this needs to be done prior to arriving for the experience.
What should I wear?
Wear your favorite swimsuit! We do provide tops but we recommend that you wear your favorite matching top in case you would feel more comfortable wearing your own.
Can I swim in the tail?
Due to the strong currents in the ocean swimming in the tail is not allowed, however we allow 10 minutes of mermaid time to flop around in the tail and play in the water (ideal for younger mermaids).
Are any images included in the sitting fee?
No, we edit and retouch the images and uploaded them to a private online gallery where you can purchase prints and digital items.

How do multiple mermaids work?
For the Beach and Indoor Beach Studio each additional mermaid is $50, for up to 4 mermaids. If you have more than 4 mermaids, you will need to schedule 2 sessions to be sure we have enough time to get photos of everyone. The only exception to this is our Mermaid Bachelorette Experience. For the Bachelorette Experience each additional mermaid is $35 and we have had as many as 14 mermaids in the past.
How long does it take to receive photos once the session is over?
You will receive a link to your online gallery via email within 1-2 weeks.
What happens if we get bad weather at the time of your beach session?
The weather in Hilton Head is changing constantly. If it is calling for bad weather at the time of your session, we will make the call the day of your session. We will try our best to reschedule your session, however if we are unable to reschedule, we would issue a full refund.
How do I know what tail size I am?
Give us your best guess and we will bring different sizes to be sure you get the right fit. This is why it is important to show up early to your session. You may have to try on several tails before finding the one that is just right.
